My motherland: the place where I live/the place I love the most

Ukraine is the most beautiful country in the world. It is situated in the center of Europe, in its hart. Ukraine is the country of long rivers, high mountains, lakes and steps. It has many big cities with beautiful buildings, monuments, cinemas and theatres. It is rich in customs and traditions. Ukrainian is the most melodious language in the world.

What does it mean «motherland» for me? It is not only the country where I live, my lovely Ukraine, not only my region, but my little village of Granitnoye which is on the east of our country.

As for me, my motherland is my village. There are no high buildings and sights in it, but it is rich in hard-working people and the loveliest place I know. My motherland is the immense steps, beautiful sunrises under the river of Kalmius, which is bordered with rocks and wheat fields.

People of many nations and nationalities live in Granitnoye .Among them are Greeks, Tatars, Ukrainians, Russians and others. For many years they live in harmony and friendship.  But more than two years we live in a condition of war and seven months of them without electricity. My Granitnoye is wounded and they shoot and bomb it for many times. But it still lives because strong and patient people live there.  Our houses, school, the new house of culture were ruined and nowadays step by step life return to our village. It is still dangerous their but children study at school. There is no job for inhabitants and people go far away to find their work, farmers partly lost their lands but people didn’t leave their houses and didn’t betray their motherland.  I am proud of them. Every day I pray for peace on my land and hope that soon it comes.

If you ask me about advantages of living in this place I wouldn’t answer. I would like to ask you why we love our parents. I just love my village. I was born there.  My parents and my grandparents were born there too.  It is my motherland – the best place on the world. East or west – home is best.
